Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium is located at the Old Coast Guard station over looking Greencastle Harbour on the banks of the beautiful Lough Foyle. It is situated beside the Lough Foyle ferry entrance; this passenger/car ferry service runs between Greencastle and Magilligan, Co. Derry. The museum has an extensive collection of artefacts, exhibitions and memorabilia of all things maritime and included in our themes are shipwrecks, traditional boat building, fishing, emigration, WWI/WII Battle of the Atlantic, coastguards, master mariners to basking sharks and more. Our new planetarium projection system gives audiences of all ages an opportunity to view various shows that provide a feeling of full sensory immersion unlike any standard classic planetarium or cinema. Our new full dome theatre runs four shows each day and you do not have to be interested in just astronomy and science to enjoy the experience, we also offer shows on prehistoric sea monsters, our global climate and our kids favourite the ‘Enchanted Reef’. Other amenities include nautical gifts and a fishing tackle shop, museum tea room and car and coach parking.
