Visit Huntington Castle to step into another world. The 17th century castle is a treasure trove of historical architecture and objects, while the Yew Tree Walk, Lime Tree Avenue and water features are just some of the elements of Huntingtons delightful gardens and pleasure grounds. Located in Clongal, County Carlow, Huntington Castle was originally built by Lord Edmond in 1625 as a defensive garrison, and after its soldiers relocated, it was developed into a family home. Many generations of the family added various extensions and details, resulting in the creation of a truly unique and interesting building. Visit the gardens of Huntington Castle to get truly lost in nature. From the formal Par Terre gardens and charming wilderness area these original 17th Century gardens are one of only handful remaining in the country. The guided tour of the castle takes place on the hour, every afternoon May to September. The excellent tea rooms, gift shop, and adventure playground means its the perfect location for a family day out.
